As part of the ongoing anti-mosquito drive, the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday conducted cleanliness drive under its 36 wards (from 1 to 36).
During the drive, the DNCC staffs visited a total of 9736 houses and establishments. During the visit, the team found larvae of aedes mosquitoes in 258 houses.Besides, possible mosquito breeding grounds have been destroyed in 3123 houses and establishments, DNCC sources said.
Apart from destroying aedes mosquito larvae and their breeding grounds, the DNCC mobile court also fined G S Construction Company Tk 2 lakh on Gulshan Avenue as Aedes mosquito larvae were found there. The combing operation will continue, it said.
Both city corporations in Dhaka launched the combing operation together in order to destroy aedes mosquito larvae in different areas of the capital from August 20 in a bid to cut down the spread of dengue.
Among others, local ward councilors and other DNCC executives were present during the drive.
