Unmask Bangabandhu’s killers, says Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said the killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman should be unmasked before the nation.

“Who are the killers of the Father of the Nation and who gave them the opportunity to go abroad by amending the constitution to protect them. The masks of these murderers will have to be unveiled before the nation,” he said

Quader, also the general secretary of the ruling Awami League, said: “There’s no record of the tragic incident in the history that took place on August 15.”

He was addressing a discussion organised by North South University (NSU), marking the 44th anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day.

Addressing as the special guest, the chairman of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB), Sheikh Kabir Hossain, said: “The independence of our Bangladesh was possible only because the people of this country loved Bangabandhu and Bangabandhu loved them too.”

He urged the NSU authorities to build a research centre titled Bangabandhu Research Centre at the private university.

NSU vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Atiqul Islam presided over the discussion while the chairman of Board of Trustees of the university, Lion Benajir Ahmed, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

Among others, NSU Board of Trustees members M A Hashem, M A Kashem, Mohammed Shajahan, Mahbubar Rahman, Yasmin Kamal, Rehana Rahman, pro-VC Prof M Ismail Hossain were present on the occasion.
