A youth was arrested from Panchagarh town on Thursday night for his alleged involvement in the murder of a madrasa girl.

The girl was found dead at the toilet of a train at Kamalapur Railway Station in the capital on Monday morning.

A team of Panchagarh Sadar police detained the youth aged around 17. However, police did not disclose the name of the youth due to unknown reason.

Family members of the deceased, Asma Akhter, claimed the arrested youth to be the friend of the ill-fated girl who took her to the capital.

Sudarshan Kumar Roy, additional superintendent of police of Panchagarh, said Sadar police have handed over the youth to Kamalapur GRP police after  primary interrogation.
