Janmashtami celebrated

The Hindu community celebrated  Janmashtami across the country on Friday, marking the birth of their Lord Krishna with due religious fervour.

In addition to special rituals, devotees brought out processions in sDhaka and district towns displaying the eventful life of Krishna and hold other programs on the occasion. The Mohanagar Sarbojonin Puja Committee began the two-day programme on the occasion at Dhakeshwari National Temple in the city.

Roads and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader was the chief guest while Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal was the special guest at the function.

Among others, local lawmaker Hazi Selim, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia and Puja committee president Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee were also present on the occasion

In the capital, the main rally began from Palashi and concluded at Bahadur Shah Park after travelling different parts of the city. Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sayeed Khokon inaugurated the procession.
