DU to set up innovation lab

Dhaka University (DU) has planned to set up an innovation lab at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) to promote research of emerging technologies.

The university will partner with mobile operator Robi to establish the lab, which will facilitate students and academics to carry out research on the latest developments in data analytics and innovations.

IBA Director Prof Syed Ferhat Anwar and Robi Managing Director Mahtab Uddin Ahmed signed an agreement in this regard on Wednesday.

The laboratory will support graduate students to design and promote innovative digital business ideas. The lab also will facilitate collaboration with stakeholders to conduct market research projects on new products, brand and persona identification.

IBA Director Prof Syed Ferhat Anwar said the lab aims to involve students in research of technology-based business ideas.

“Besides emerging technologies, including blockchain and internet of Things (IoT) technologies will be tagged here for shaping up new businesses to face of challenges of the fourth industrial revolution,” Prof Ferhat added.
