CHATTOGRAM: Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Wednesday said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia was directly involved in the grisly grenade attack on August 21 in 2004.

Nasir, also the general secretary of the city Awami League (AL), said this while addressing as the chief guest at a programme held in front of Chattogram Press Club, marking the 15 years into the August 21 grenade attack.

An organisation titled ‘Chattogram Nagorik Uddyg’ organised the programme titled ‘Biswa Bibek Ghrina Janao.’

Addressing the programme, Mayor Nasir said it is now very clear that the then government Chief Khaleda Zia, her government and corrupted son Tarique Rahman were involved in the grenade attack.

“Tarique was awarded life-term imprisonment by court after trial in the case filed in this connection. But, he has been staying in a foreign country. The world conscience should be awake in this regard,” Nasir said.
