Law enforcers to be on alert on Janmashtami

Law enforcement agencies, including detective police, will be kept on high alert in the capital and elsewhere of the country on the occasion of holy Janmashtami, an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Sri Krishna.       

With a view to ensuring peaceful and festive celebration of the holy festival, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is going to impose a tight security measures in the capital.  As part of the move, the entire capital will be kept under security blanket, DMP sources said. 

Apart from capturing videos of Janmashtami rally, police will install CCTV cameras at the rally route and keep an eye on rally from rooftops, police headquarters sources said. Law-enforcers in uniform and plain cloth police will also be deployed to ensure security, it added.

In a recent meeting held at the DMP headquarters with DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah in the chair, decision was taken to put a security blanket across the DMP area, along with deployment of huge number of police personnel in uniform and plain-clothes.

DMP has taken the plan centering the procession which will start from Dhakeshwari temple at around 3:00pm and end at 5:00pm at Bahadurshah Park in the old city after parading different city streets.

As part of the plan, security personnel will be deployed on rooftops, and sweeping will be carried out on the trucks to be used in the procession. 

No unwanted people and people with sharp weapons such as knife and firearms, explosives, bag and luggage will be allowed to enter the procession.
