The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday sent a letter to the law ministry to allow the use of electronic records (audio and video) as evidence in trial proceedings.

The anti-graft body’s secretary Mohammad Delwar Bakth sent the letter to the law ministry, requesting it to take measures for amending the Evidence Act, 1872 as a time-befitting measure to ensure more effective prosecution.

“The commission requested for taking necessary measures to make the Act a more time-befitting one by allowing electronic records as evidence in all kinds of trial proceedings,” said ACC public relation officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.
