‘Save wildlife to maintain environmental balance’

Chittagong University (CU) Acting Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Shireen Akhter laid emphasis on saving the wildlife for maintaining ecological balance in the nature.

She said this while addressing as the chief guest at a seminar on ‘Snake, Its Bite, Prevention and Treatment’ jointly organised by the university Biological Science faculty and Bangladesh Zoology Association at the faculty auditorium recently.  

Addressing the seminar, Professor Shireen said wildlife including snake plays imperative role in maintaining balance in the environment.

People want to kill snake after seeing it anywhere. It is not correct attitude and this mindset should be changed, said the professor.

Terming snake as friend of nature, she called upon all to save the wildlife for betterment of the nature.

The acting VC also hoped that the seminar will help the teachers, students and staff of the university to be aware about the snake and treatment of its bite.

Biological Science faculty Dean Professor Dr Md Mahbubur Rahman was the special guest at the seminar where Bangladesh Zoology Association Vice President Professor Dr Md Farid Ahsan was present as discussant.

CU Zoology department Chairman Professor Dr Shawkat Ara Begum presided over the seminar conducted by Biochemistry and Microbiology department Associate Professor Dr Mohammad Saidul Islam.
