IU observed National Mourning Day

KUSHTIA: The authority of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia observed the National Mourning Day and 44th Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus in a befitting manner on Thursday.

Marking the day, IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Harun-ur-Rashid Askari hoisted the national flag while IU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman hoisted the black flag in the premises of administration building at 9:30 am. The national flag was flown at half-mast.  IU treasurer Professor Dr Selim Toha was present there at that moment. After hoisting the flags, a moment of silence was observed showing homage to the soul of the father of the nation. And then a prayer was offered for the eternal peace of departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members.

Then, a mourning procession was brought out from the premises of administrative building led by university Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Harun-ur-Rashid Askari. IU Pro-VC, Treasurer, acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif, teachers, officials and students of the university took part in the procession.
