In its continuous pursuit for ensuring inclusive banking, BRAC Bank Limited (BBL) has taken yet another step forward to expand its Digital Agent Banking services through Union Digital Centres (UDC) across the country.
To implement the expansion plan of Agent Banking, BBL has signed a partnership agreement with the government’s Access To Information (a2i), said a press release.The partnership is to provide and ensure true online banking services to the underserved, marginalised and unbanked people of the rural and semi urban areas under agent banking channel through Digital Centres.
The Rural and Urban Digital Centers of the local government will be affiliated as agents of BRAC Bank to introduce banking services for marginalized and underserved communities. The UDCs will be chosen by mutual understanding of BRAC Bank and a2i.
BRAC Bank’s Managing Director and CEO Selim RF Hussain and Project Director (Joint Secretary), a2i Programme Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at a ceremony at a2i office in Dhaka on Wednesday. Programme Manager, a2i Programme Tohurul Hasan, BRAC Bank’s Head of Technology Wasi Noman, Head of Digital Banking and E-commerce Siraj Siddiquey (Shakil) and Head of Agent Banking Md. Nazmul Hasan were also present.
