RANGPUR: Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) at a meeting on Tuesday decided to launch the ‘Mosquito Elimination and Cleanliness Week-2019’ from July 25 (Thursday) next in the city, reports BSS.
The week will be observed as a part of nationwide programme of Local Government Division to eliminate mosquito and maintain cleanliness to build a hygienic Rangpur city free from ‘Dengue’, ‘Chikungunya’, and Malaria diseases.Panel Mayor-2 of Rangpur Md. Mahmudur Rahman attended the meeting held at City Bhabna as the chief guest with Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Akhter Hossain Azad in the chair.
Secretary of RpCC Rashedul Islam, its Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz, Chief of the Conservancy Division Shahinur Rahman Shahin, Health Inspector Abdul Kaiyum, among others, addressed.
Akhter Hossain Azad discussed importance of maintaining cleanliness at office premises, institutions, homesteads, drainage and sewerage systems in the city to keep the environment clean for effectively preventing breeding of mosquito.
“The RpCC will conduct the ‘Mosquito Elimination and Cleanliness Week-2019’ involving every citizen from July 25 to July 31 next to maintain sustainable cleanliness in the city and relieve the citizens from mosquito menace,” he added.
The chief guest sought assistance of all citizens in making the week-long mosquito elimination and cleanliness programme successful to improve environment and prevent occurrence of all mosquito-related diseases in the city.
