Like in the previous years, girls gave a drubbing to the boys in this year’s results of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations.
The girl’s pass rate under the 10 education boards across the country is 76.44 percent this year while the pass rate of boys is 71.67 percent, according to an official copy of the results.Out of 7,03,000 male students who took part in the examinations, 5,03,828 passed while 4,83,344 female students, among 6,33,629 candidates, came out successful this year.
The combined pass rate of this year’s HSC and its equivalent examinations under the 10 education boards rose by 7.29 percentage points to 73.93 percent from last year’s 66.64 percent.
Education minister Dr Dipu Moni formally unveiled the results at a press briefing held at education ministry on Wednesday.
Last year too, girls beat the boys with their pass rate about 5.84 percentage points higher than their counterparts.
The girl’s pass rate of all education boards was 69.72 percent while the pass rate of boys was 63.88 percent in 2018.
