Apartment allottees under ‘A’ block of RAJUK Uttara Project on Saturday brought an accusation of anomalies in the project and demanded compensation from the city development authority.
They said that low quality materials were used in the project, which have affected each allottee financially. They made the allegations against RAJUK at a press conference under the banner of RAJUK Uttara Apartment Owners’ Association at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity.President of the Association Hamidur Rahman said, “As per the rule of the project, we paid Tk 6.71 lakh in four instalments each without any interest during the construction of the apartments. And we were supposed to make payment of Tk 7.01 lakh in another four installments after the handover of the apartments. Besides, we were supposed to pay Tk 5 lakh as utility bill.”
He demanded that the allottees should be compensated at the rate fixed by public works department as per Real Estate Act-2010.
“We also demand to pay the rest of the installments without any interest as the construction work is not complete yet,” he said.
Hamidur also claimed that electro-mechanical work of the apartments including elevator, fire hydrant, solar, CCTV, PABX, mobile tower, and STP plant are not in operation yet for lack of co-ordination.
The government started Uttara apartment project for low-income people in Uttara-18 sector in 2012 which was supposed to be complete by 31 December, 2016, but the construction is not over yet.
Among others, senior vice-presidents of the Association Nasiruzzaman Mia and Mainul Islam, general secretary Nazrul Islam and organizing secretary Moazzem Hossain were present at the press conference.
