Russian President Vladimir has said the modern world faces big challenges and real threats that need to be recognised and dealt with by the entire international community.

“The discussion of an updated model of global development should restore such concepts as sovereignty and the right of countries to choose their own development path,” Putin said while addressing a concluding session of a two-day conference on Development of Parliamentarism-2019 hosted by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation at World Trade Centre in Moscow.

He said this will enable countries to reach agreements and adopt not just declarations but binding rules based on interests and responsibilities.

About 800 members of parliament and experts from 132 countries took part in the conference.

Bangladesh Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, among others, was present during the address.

Earlier, addressing a session styled ‘Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation: Principles, Trends and Institute’, Shirin Sharmin urged the lawmakers to come forward in ensuring rule of law, human rights and freedom.

“Bangladesh Parliament, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina, has been working for establishing a disparity free society. The incumbent government has been going ahead with a motto to build Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.
