Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organized a seminar on national budget for the fiscal 2019-2020 on Sunday at its permanent campus at Rupnagar in the capital.

Department of Economics, BUBT, arranged the seminar entitled “A Review on Proposed Budget of FY 2019-20: Prospects and Challenges”, said a press release.

Prof. Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow, Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD), made a review on budget as the chief guest.

He said that budget allocation in education, health and agriculture sectors is not sufficient and it should be more logical and need based. Though this is a deficit budget, it would be implementable if the government ensures transparency, accountability and reduces the cost of nonperforming loans and reduces indirect taxes.
