SEOUL: Sentiment among South Korean consumers over economic situations worsened for two straight months on the continued fall in export, central bank data showed Tuesday.

The composite consumer sentiment index (CCSI) came in at 97.5 in June, down 0.4 points from the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK), reports Xinhua.

It continued to fall for the second consecutive month, after rising for five months through April.

The government unveiled a set of measures to boost household income, especially among the low-income bracket, but the continued fall in export negatively affected consumer confidence.

Export, which accounts for about half of the export-driven economy, kept sliding for six straight months to May.
