Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday said if expired medicine is not destroyed by July 2, action will be taken against the medicine companies and others concerned.

“Meetings have been held with drug administration, Aushad Shilpa Samity and Chemist Samity.

They have been asked to withdraw expired medicine immediately and destroy it by July 2,” he said.

The health minister came up with the statements addressing a press conference at the conference room of the ministry.

About the dengue fever, Zahid Maleque said they are concerned about the dengue menace.

He said the government is working together with city corporations and trying to take coordinated measures to ward off the disease.

Speaking at the press conference, health officers of Dhaka South and North cities claimed that they have stepped up their mosquito control activities, including of spraying larvicide.

They said awareness of citizens is crucial to control dengue. Chikungunya cases were not reported this year yet, they said.
