‘CSR to foster SDGs journey’

Planning Minister MA Mannan on Sunday urged businesses to practice corporate social responsibility (CSR) to uphold human dignity which will accelerate government vision to achieve sustainable development goal (SDG).

 The planning minister also emphasised on practicing good governance at business institutes for labour welfare while addressing a meeting in the capital on Sunday.

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) organised the meeting to review the process of strategy development with a view to striking a balance between business and human rights. United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) is the partner of the event.

Planning Minister MA Mannan was the chief guest while NHRC Chairman Kazi Reazul Hoque presided over the session. Women Chambers of Commerce and Industries (WCCI) President Selima Ahmed was guest of honour on the occasion.

Addressing the meeting, NHRC Chief Kazi Reazul Hoque said the government have to develop a strategy for businesses as per human rights guideline to foster SDG journey.

Reazul Hoque also expressed his concern as the state promised to eradicate risky child labour by 2021 but the situation is still not satisfactory.
