CHATTOGRAM: Awami League (AL) leaders urged the party-men to work together to resist anti-liberation forces from assuming power in the county again.

They were addressing at a civic rally organised marking the 70th founding anniversary of the party at auditorium of Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Chattogram Chapter in the city on Sunday afternoon.

Former Minister and AL Presidium Member Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was the chief guest at the programme presided over by the AL Chattogram City unit Acting President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury.

Addressing the programme, Mosharraf said the country cannot be handed over to any anti-liberation force again.

The party, which is involved with birth of the country, should be brought in power repeatedly for expected advancement of the nation, he said.

The Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been taking the country forward for materialising the dream dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for building a golden Bangladesh, said Mosharraf.

The rural areas of the country are also now witnessing the touch of development while the rural people are completing with the urban ones, he said.

“You people (party-men) will have to refrain from any misdeed, which people may dislike. So, we will have to be polite,” said the senior leader.

“BNP can only do politics centring illness of Khaleda Zia and their politics got stuck in criticism of government,” he observed.

Though the BNP doesn’t acknowledge achievements of the government, the country has been advancing forward, said the AL publicity secretary.

Highlighting different development indexes, the minister said per capita income of people of the country upgraded to $1902 along with an increase in life-time.
