Govt opens country’s first upazila-level dist judge court

Law Minister Anisul Huq on Friday inaugurated a District and Session Judge Court in Char Fasson Upazila as part of the government’s efforts to take the judicial services to the doorstep of the people.

“It’s the first District and Session Judge Court established at the upazila level,” said the minister while addressing the inauguration event at Brojogopal Town Hall of the upazila town.

No one will be left out as the wheel of development is moving fast under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said. 

The law minister said the prime minister has initiated the construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge and the country’s first nuclear power plant.

“She made the country a role model of development.”

“Every court functions independently and the government has nothing to do with her conviction or release, the minister said in reaction to the allegations raised by BNP leaders that Khaleda Zia is subjected to political harassment.

Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Youth and Sports Abdullah Al Islam Jakob MP attended the function as the special guest. Jakob expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for establishing the District and Session Judge Court in Char Fasson.

Senior District and Session Judge Ferdous Ahmed chaired the function. Law Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahirul Haque, Upazila chairman Zoinal Abedin Akhon, Monpura Upazila chairman Selina Akter and general secretary of district bar Mozammel Haque were also present on the occasion.

Apart from district judge court, law minister inaugurated office of the Char Fasson Bar Association.
