The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) has fined 45 business entities Tk2.62 lakh on various charges in two cities and seven districts across the country.

In its latest drive on Wednesday DNCRP officials fined the business entities in Dhaka, Chattogram, Tangail, Bogura, Sylhet, Gopalganj, Habiganj, Barishal and Cox’s Bazar, said a press release signed by Shahnaj Sultana, assistant director (investigation) of the consumer rights protection agency. 

The press release said Brother Pharmacy, Bijoy Pharmacy, Seba Medical Hall and Bikrampur Pharmacy at Vatara, Segunbagicha and Badda were fined Tk75,000 for keeping date-expired medicines.

Besides, Fariha General Store was fined Tk5,000 for not stamping MRP on product packets.

Assistant Directors Afroja Rahman and Abdul Jabbar Mandal led the drive.

Tk89,000 was fined to 17 business entities in  the cities and districts on various charges.

Tk93,100 was fined to 23 entities as per complaints. Of the money, Tk23,275 was given to complainants.
