Two varsity students arrested for giving proxy

CHATTOGRAM: Police arrested two university students who appeared to give proxy for other candidates in written test for Sub Inspector (SI) recruitment in the port city on Sunday and Monday.

The arrestees were identified as Jahid Hossain, 27, and Shah Alam, 26.   

Of them, Jahid completed post-graduation from Dhaka University (DU) in Accounting while Shah Alam is MA student of Bengali department at Jagannath University.  

Officer In-Charge (OC) Pranab Chowdhury of Khulshi police station said they in association with invigilators arrested Jahid from the city’s MES College Centre while giving proxy for candidate Md Saleh Uddin on Monday.

“Jahid took Tk 100,000 from Saleh for the examination in advance through one Sajeeb, another student of the DU,” he said.

Earlier on Sunday, police also arrested Shah Alam for giving proxy for one Nayeem Uddin Hossain from Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Lines School and College.

Assistant Commissioner (AC-Bayezid Zone) Paritan Talukdar of the CMP said Shah Alam appeared for the written test in exchange of Tk 20,000. 

The invigilator of the examination centre caught him for his suspicious movement, he said.
