England take on Afghanistan today

England will be looking to take a step closer to the World Cup semi-finals when they take on Afghnaistan in Manchester today, reports standard.co.uk.

Eoin Morgan’s side have impressed with three victories from four matches so far at this summer’s tournament, the only blip coming in a surprise defeat to Pakistan at Trent Bridge.

Afghanistan were seen as a talented side with the potential to upset a few of the best sides coming into the World Cup, but have disappointed so far, losing all four of their matches fairly comfortably.

England have significant injury concerns after Jason Roy and Eoin Morgan both limped out of the win over the West Indies on Friday.

James Vince is expected to open the batting alongside Jonny Bairstow, while Moeen Ali is likely to return, with two spinners preferable on a used wicket at Old Trafford.
