Sheikh Russel thrash Mohammedan

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra thrashed Mohammedan Sporting Club by 4-2 goals during their Bangladesh Premier League encounter (BPL) at Bangabandhu National Stadium in the capital on Sunday.

Sheikh Russel’s local ace Biplu Ahmed coupled with their foreign recruits Ndkaku Alison and Raphael Odovin scored for their side in the crucial fixture of BPL.

Sheikh Russel started the match with an unmatched zeal for triumph. They launched multiple attacks at Mohamaden’s defence.

Their efforts were finally paid off as their local midfielder Biplu managed to hand Sheikh Russel the all-important early lead on the 11th minute.

With the newfound confidence inspired by the lead, Sheikh Russel went for repeated attacks but it was Mohammedan who restored parity in the match as their trusty forward Toklis Ahmed netted a stunner on the 16th minute.

Despite conceding a goal, Sheikh Russel didn’t stop their attacking spree and they landed their second goal of the match with Alison scoring a brilliant goal on the 19th minute of the match.

After the eventful 20 minutes of the match, both teams played positive football as both sides were going on attacks and also defended their D-boxes well.

The match went into the half –time with Sheikh Russel leading by 2-1 goals.

Both the teams returned to the field with a renewed fiery spirit and Mohammedan utilised their opportunity to get back in the match as their star forward Toklis scored his second goal of the match on the 50th minute.

But Sheikh Russel broke the deadlock on the 70th minute courtesy of their proven star foreigner Raphael Odovin and topped it off with another one on the 87th minute.

Earlier, Arambagh KS secured three more points beating Chattogram Abahani Ltd in their 16th league match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday.

Nigerian forward Ideni Chinedu Matthew scored the match-winner for Arambagh. With the feat, Arambagh have now 23 points with seven wins, two draws and seven losses while Chattogram Abahani have 18 points with four wins, six draws and six losses.

Arambagh are five points clear ahead of their closest rivals Sheikh Jamal, who remained in the 6th slot with their previous credit of 18 points after conceding a 1-2 defeat to bottom-placed Team BJMC on Saturday night at the same venue.
