BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed on Sunday said party Chairperson Khaleda Zia to be freed through a tough movement.

“We will try our best for Khaleda Zia’s bail through legal process. But a strong movement can ensure her release from jail. We have to be organized and arrange programmes to this end. We have to launch such programmes that the government will be forced to free her,” he said.

The BNP leader came up with the statements addressing a human chain arranged by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal in front of the National Press Club in the capital.

He expressed the hope that Khaleda Zia will be granted bail next week.

“There are two cases: Zia Orphanage Trust graft case and Zia Charitable Trust corruption case of Khaleda Zia in High Court. We hope Khaleda Zia will get bail in Zia Charitable Trust corruption case. If bail is not granted, we must go to the appellate division.”

He claimed that the country’s people want Khaleda Zia to be released from jail.

“We cannot ensure bail of Khaleda Zia due to political influence of the government.” About the proposed national budget for fiscal year 2019-20, the BNP leader said the budget is meant for the beneficiaries of the government not for the people of the country.
