BNP policymakers discuss party’s next course of action

BNP standing committee at a meeting on Saturday discussed ways to forge a greater political unity to launch a movement against the government.

The BNP policymakers sat in a meeting at party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in the capital around 5:15pm.

They also held a separate meeting with lawyers of Khaleda Zia around 7:15pm and discussed various issues, including the release of the party chief from jail, party sources said.

Chaired by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the party’s standing committee meeting was attended, among others, by Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Amir Khashru Mahmud Chowdhury.

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman who has been staying in London joined the meeting through video conferencing, the sources said.

Emerging from the meeting, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy told reporters that they discussed the cases filed against Khaleda Zia. And they will again sit in a meeting on the same issue soon.
