After reading out the proposed budget proposal for the Finance Minister, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the first time will face media at a post-budget briefing at 3:00pm today at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka.

The premier will hold the briefing due to the illness of the Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal who has placed the proposed Tk 5,23,190 crore national budget for 2019-2020 in parliament with a target of 8.2 per cent growth.

Earlier on Thursday, the premier read out a part of speech of the finance minister who was sick.

It is a practice that the finance minister faces the media a day after the budget proposal and takes volley of questions of journalists and explains them over the proposed budget.

But, this is the first time that the premier will hold the briefing instead of the finance minister.
