New org launched to help poor students

NILPHAMARI: A voluntary organisation named ‘Bandhu Kallayan Samity’ was launched during an Eid Reunion programme held at the scout building of Nilphamari Government High School on Saturday.

Friends of 1986 SSC batch of the school and nearby educational institutions took the initiative to strengthen bondage of friendship.

As part of its first step, the initiators announced to financially support poor, but meritorious students of Hazi Danesh University of Science and Technology in Dinajpur every year. The students are hailing from Nilphamari district.

They also vowed to support poor students of other public universities coming from the district in near future after enrollment of their names. They also vowed to help their underprivileged boyhood friends during marriage ceremony of their daughters and bear the treatment cost during sickness.

Even, the new members of the organisation raised fund instantly from own subscription.

Meanwhile, a 21-member executive committee of Bandhu Kallayan Samity was formed with Shah Md Anwar, a renowned construction firm owner, as its president and Nilphamari Government High School teacher Md Imran Ali as its member secretary. Dr Md Abu Hasan, head of the Department of Plant Pathology faculty of Hazi Danesh University of Science and Technology was selected as an advisor of the Samity. Kamal Pasha Emu, a high official of IFIC Bank, Dhaka conducted the entire programme.

At the fag end of the programme, a luncheon party was held.
