Development of infrastructures is a priority area of the government. As a result, it has been implementing a host of mega projects. The Padma Bridge and Karnaphuli Tunnel are some of such dream projects in the country's communication sector. These projects are aimed at not only easing the sufferings of commuters but also taking the advantages of modern and efficient communication networks for the benefit of businesses for achieving even higher economic status.

Implementation of some key development projects ahead of the Eid vacation is sure to give much comfort to the traffic-jam-stricken commuters who are used to enduring untold sufferings in the long tailback on roads. With the inauguration of the much-awaited Second Meghna Bridge and Second Gumti Bridge along the vital Dhaka-Chattogram highway, commuters heaved a sigh of relief. Many expressed delight as their plight on this highway is likely to alleviate.

The highway connects Dhaka with the seaports of the country. Implementation of the Dhaka-Chittagong four-lane highway project at a cost of billions of takas signifies its importance in the country's export performance. But, two vital bridges shrank the dual carriageway between the port city and the capital to a single one. The communication bottleneck has been removed with the construction of the new bridges which has finally opened up the floodgate of financial advantages of the widened national highway in the economy.

Also, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has recently opened two flyovers at Konabari and Chandra and four underpasses at Kaliakair, Deohata, Mirzapur and Gharinda and some important bridges on the exit way to the north and northwestern areas of the country from Dhaka. Travellers had to go through untold sufferings but things have changed with the inauguration of the vital structures for removing traffic congestion. This will pave the way of easy transfer of goods and services to and from the capital city. Also, a milestone improvement in the railway network has been witnessed as the country's longest intercity train service, Panchagarh Express has been inaugurated.

These projects will surely help accelerate the pace of industrialisation, trade and commerce activities and will improve the socio-economic standard of the people. This is how the country is marching forward to fulfill our expectation and realise the dream.
