‘Nazrul’s works inspired nation during Liberation War’

KHULNA: Speakers at a discussion here on Saturday said that Nazrul’s poems and songs inspired the nation during the country’s great Liberation War and all democratic movements and struggles, reports BSS. 

Terming the National Poet Nazrul as a genius in his time, they said he was a poet of humanity, non-communal, philosopher, revolutionary and a symbol of Bengali nationalism.

They were addressing the discussion at Khulna Umesh Chandra Public Library auditorium marking the 120th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Khulna District Administration, Nazrul Birth Anniversary celebration committee and National Poet Nazrul Exercise Centre organised the discussion.  Acting Deputy Commissioner Md Iqbal Hossain spoke it as the chief guest.

Chaired by General Secretary of Umesh Chandra Public Library Professor Md Anwarul Kadir, the programme was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Golam Mainuddin Hasan, Exicutive Director of NGO Rupantor Sawpon Guha and General Secretary of National Poet Nazrul Exercise Center Masud Mahmud.
