BSMRSTU student falls victim to ‘wrong treatment’

GOPALGANJ: A student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU) is now suffering in critical condition at Abu Naser Specialised Hospital of Khulna, after having wrong treatment at Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital on Tuesday morning.

The student is Moriyam Sultana Munni, 20 a second year student of Sociology Department. She is the daughter of Mosharrof Hossain of Gopalganj Sadar.

Family sources said, Moriyam was admitted into the hospital on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, doctors took her into operation theatre to have gallbladder surgery. Due to the wrong injection, Moriyam’s condition became worsen. So the doctors at the Hospital called an emergency medical board meeting and recommend her to Shaheed Abu Naser Hospital at Khulna.

Currently Moriyam is undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Hospital. When talked to Moriyam’s relatives, they brought the allegation of wrong treatment against the nurse and demanded punishment to her.

On the other hand, Deputy Director of Gopalganj 250 bed General Hospital, Dr Faridul Islam Chowdhury termed the incident as ‘unwanted’ and said, five member probe committee was already formed to investigate the incident. The committee was asked to submit the investigation report by next three days. We will take necessary action following the report, he added.
