The government will establish a technology park at Chattogram University (CU) to attract more foreign investment in the port city.
Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority (BHTPA) and Chattogram University signed an agreement on Wednesday in this regard.BHTPA Managing Director Hosne Ara Begum and CU Vice Chancellor Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury signed the deal on behalf of their respective institutions at a ceremony at ICT Division in the capital.
According to the agreement, the university will allocate 100 acres of land to the hi-tech park authority for infrastructure development.
BHTPA Joint Secretary Khandoker Azizul Islam said the government aims to develop the park as a vision to expand technology activities to the south-east area of the country.
The university has been contributing to both general and technical education significantly, he said.
The official also said the park will focus on software industry.
