Sale of advance train tickets ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr will begin today at five different places in the capital for the first time to reduce the sufferings of holidaymakers.
Advance tickets are generally sold only at Kamalapur Railway Station, and many holidaymakers spend sleepless nights at the station to get the tickets.But this year, tickets will be sold at different places for the first time to prevent excruciatingly long queues.
Railways minister Nurul Islam Sujan will visit Kamalapur Railway Station on Wednesday morning to watch the sale of advance tickets.
Tickets of all trains bound for the country’s western destinations will be sold from Kamalapur Railway Station while tickets for Chattogram and Noakhali-bound passengers will be sold from Airport Railway Station.
Holidaymakers will have to buy their tickets of Mymensingh and Jamalpur from Tejgaon Station. All tickets of Netrakona-bound will be sold from Banani Station while tickets for Sylhet and Kishoreganj will be sold from Old Rail Bhaban in Fulbaria area.
Sale of advance train tickets will continue until May 26.
Tickets for May 31, June 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be available on May 22, 23, 24, 25 and 26 respectively.The return tickets will be available from May 29. The tickets for June 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 will be available on May 29, 30, 31, June 1 and 2 respectively, he said.
