For Virat Kohli, the presence of two quality wrist-spinners in his bowling group is a great cushion to have. On flat batting pitches in England, the importance of wicket-takers in the middle phase of the innings is not lost on any side and hence, the form of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav is important for the Indian team, reports Cricbuzz.
“We are feeding off the confidence of each other. We have done well in all conditions and we have realized that we need to do the same thing. We don’t have to change according to conditions,” Chahal told Cricbuzz about his partnership with Kuldeep Yadav. You need a few people to talk to you when you are down. When I have a rough phase, he talks to me. When we are not with the team, we like to be in our personal space but it’s important to keep in touch too,” he further added.
The leggie has spoken about the influence of MS Dhoni and he believes that the presence of the seasoned campaigner in the side is brilliant and that the spinners are always very keen to follow what he says.
“Whatever happens, you need Mahi bhai. We still obey what he says. He intervenes when we go wrong. It was the same when we first arrived. Even today, if we plan something of our own, we feel the need to talk to him about it,” Chahal said.
