Barca held by Eiber

Barcelona’s LaLiga campaign came to an end with a 2-2 draw, with Lionel Messi scoring both of the visitors’ goals at Eibar on Sunday, reports Marca.

Eibar claimed their first ever point against Barcelona, the club whose colours they adopted as their own and the team who finish this LaLiga Santander season as champions, thanks to goals from Marc Cucurella and Pablo De Blasis.

Two cool Messi finishes in two first half minutes saw Barcelona enjoy a lead in the Basque Country, but the reality is that the Catalan side were fortunate to avoid defeat against a hungry and determined Eibar outfit, which will worry the Catalan giant with the Copa del Rey final coming up next Saturday.

Eibar welcomed the champions out with a guard of honour, but they certainly weren’t overawed at the superstar talent gracing the Ipurua pitch as Los Armeros pressed intensely from the off and it wasn’t uncommon to see all outfielders in the Barcelona half of the pitch.
