Security guard Mohammad Shamim, who was found dead at Jamuna Bank ATM booth in Vatara of the capital early on January 21, was killed by another security guard Mohammad Kafil as he dismissed the possible marriage of the killer with one Shahana.
Police Bureau of Investigation’s (PBI) Dhaka Metro South in a written statement sent to this correspondent on Sunday revealed this.After the murder of Shamim, security guard of Elite Force Security Guard Agency, his father Nazrul Islam filed a case with Vatara Police Station on that date.
The plaintiff accused were Mohammad Faruk, Shahin Alam, Abdur Rahim and Nazrul Islam Razib as they had a conflict with Shamim.
The case was first investigated by local and detective police. On April 3, the case was handed over to PBI Dhaka Metro South.
Sub-Inspector Pulak Sarkar under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) at Dhaka Metro South Md Shahadat Hossain began investigation and nabbed Kafil from his native village at Phulbari in Kurigram on May 15.
Kafil was also a security guard at Elite Force Security Guard Agency.
On May 17, the accused gave confessional statement before a Dhaka court under Section 164.As per the statement, Shamim and Kafil were neighbours. The victim took the killer to the capital and gave job in the security agency.
At first Kafil stayed Shamim’s family, but later shifted to a mess at Munshibari inVatara where he lived with security agency zonal commander Shahin. At that time, Kafil acquainted with a woman named Sabina. And at one stage, Sabina offered him to marry her sister Shahana.
Sabina’s husband Abdul Malek visited Kafil’s village house in Kurigram while Kafil visited Shahana’s in Gaibandha.
But Shamim vetoed Sabina and her husband to marry Shahana to Shamim depicting his ill-character, poor financial condition and others.
At one stage, the marriage did not take place.
Finally, Kafil decided to kill Shamim and executed by hitting five-time with a hummer on sleeping Shamim inside the bank booth early on January 21. After killing, the killer vandalised the CCTV camera of the booth.
Even he helped the deceased’s family carry the body to Kurigram and burry.
