World Metrology Day will be observed in the country today as elsewhere across the world.
The theme of the day this year is -‘The International System of Units - Fundamentally Better’.President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister of Ministry of Industry Kamal Ahmed Mojumder and Industry secretary Md Abdul Halim have issued separate messages on this occasion.
Besides, director of International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) Martin Milton have given message on the occasion.
The main objective of World Metrology Day is to create awareness among the mass people in importance of measurements in everyday life.
To observe the day, Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has taken different programmes. BSTI will hold a discussion meeting today at its Head Office at Tejgaon Industrial area in the capital.
Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, MP is expected to present as chief guest in the programme.
State Minister for Ministry of Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder MP will present as special guest and Secretary of industry ministry Md Abdul Halim will preside over the meeting and Director General (DG) of BSTI Md Muazzem Hossain will deliver welcome speech.Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will also telecast special programmes. Besides, different important places of the city are being decorated with banners, festoons and placards marking the day.
