Bangladesh Army has cautioned people, who intend to purchase flats, against an illegal housing society that doing business using the name of the army.

The caution message came from the army after they noticed advertisements titled ‘Flats for Sale in Army Society’ in some daily newspapers.

The mentioned locations of the flats are Mousaeir, Chalaban, Shah Kabir Mazar Road and Dakkhin Khan areas of Uttara in the capital.

The area has not been established or recognised as a residential area of the army or armed forces. The name of the organisation has also not been recorded in any official document like registrar of joint stock companies and firms, said the army.

Earlier, the area was used for various training programmes of the army, so it was familiar as ‘Army Tech’to the local people.

Around 20 to 25 years before, some people jointly formed an association titled ‘Army Society House and Nurses Welfare Association’. In view of this, the area was known as the ‘Army Society’. Currently there are more than 150 houses/plots in the area.

Construction work of some high rise buildings by various developer companies is underway in the location. It came to know that the value of land/flat of the area is much higher than neighboring area.

Purchasing land by own initiative, the plan of using the name of the army is not feasible.

It is necessary to stop the illegal move on an emergency basis.
