Students of Mymensingh Medical College (MMC), who were in demonstrations protesting sexual harassment of their female fellow, postponed their demonstration till June 30.

The agitating students took the decision on Saturday afternoon after the university authorities and police assured them to meet their demands, including arrest and punishment of the criminal.

Earlier on Saturday morning, the students gathered in front of the main academic building of the college and staged a sit-in to press their 11-point demand, including round the clock security guard at the college hostel, banning outsiders from entering the campus, set up CC cameras in the campus including female hostel, adequate Ansar recruitment and increase police patrol.

On Wednesday, an outsider allegedly harassed a female student of the college in front of the college hostel gate. On the next day, the students boycotted classes and examinations protesting the inaction of the college authorities.

Later, the college authorities suspended its two security guards-‘Salim’ and ‘Firoz’ due to negligence of their duty in hostel following a meeting with both the students and fourth-grade employees.
