DNCRP conducts drives against 52 banned products

Seven monitoring teams of Directorate of National Consumers’ Right Protection (DNCRP) conducted drives against 52 banned products at various parts in the city on Saturday.

DNCRP Deputy Director Manjur Mohammad Shahriar led the main team which conducted drive at Kawran Bazar, Dhanmondi and New Market areas in the city, sources said. 

During the drive, DNCRP’s three assistant directors Masum Arefin, Afroja Rahman, Endrani Roy and representatives of Dhaka South and North City Corporations, Home Ministry and Commerce Ministry were present.

The team did not find the products in most of the shops as the companies concerned lifted their products from the markets.

However, the team fined some shops at Karwan Bazar for violating the HC order.

It fined Karwan Bazar’s Nasir Store Tk 10,000. Jabbar Store and Bismillah Store were fined with Tk 2,000 each.

Deputy Director Shahriar said, “We have asked BSTI, Food Safety Authority and other authorities concerned to publish and telecast awareness advertisement in print and electronic media against the 52 products.”

“We do not find such products in most of the shops today (Saturday). We will hold a meeting with business leaders in our office on Sunday. Even after that, if the businessmen sell such products, stern actions will be taken against them.”
