Body to probe smashing of 35,000 eggs by cops

Police on Friday formed a probe committee to investigate into the complaint that six highway policemen smashed 35,000 eggs of a vendor at Baraigram in Natore on Thursday.  

Md Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general of police headquarters, confirmed the matter and said the committee launched probe.

The committed led by Shahid Ullah, additional superintendent of police at Bogura Highway Police, was asked to submit its findings within three days, he said.

The accused police personnel have been closed and attached to Bogura Range, said Sohel Rana. 

According to the media report, a egg-laden pickup van skidded off Banpara-Hatikumrul Highway at Agran Sutirpar area at around 3:00am on Thursday.

A team from Banpara Highway Police Outpost reached the spot at around 5:00am. The vendor sought help from them, the report said quoting witnesses.

The police personnel demanded Tk20,000 for their assistance and consequently smashed some 35,000 eggs after being denied.
