Khulna Shipyard to build Hilsa research ship for BFRI

Khulna Shipyard (KS) will build a Hilsa research and survey ship for Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) at a cost of Taka 8 crore, reports BSS.

The research and survey ship will have modern facilities, including fish finder, eco sounder, navigation and modern telecommunication system, Hilsa research laboratory, netting system and portable hatchery.

As per the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed here on Tuesday between the KS and BFRI, KS will hand over the ship to BFRI within the next two years, said a handout.

With an aim to strengthen Hilsa Research in Riverine Station, Chandpur project director Abul Bashar and KS managing director Anisur Rahman Molla signed the MoU in presence of state minister for fisheries Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru.
