Malinga magic gives IPL title to MI

Mumbai Indians on Sunday claimed their 4th title after defeating Chennai Super Kings by 1 run in 12th edition of the Indian Premier League.

The summit clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Earlier in the match, Chennai Super Kings’ leg-spinner Imran Tahir pipped compatriot Kagiso Rabada to emerge as the highest wicket-taker winning the coveted ‘Purple Cap’ in the Indian Premier League.

Tahir picked up 26 wickets in 17 matches at a measly economy rate of 6.66.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma had won the toss and elected to bat in a high pressure final. Birthday boy Kieron Pollard, who turned 32, played a brilliant knock (41 off 25 balls) to help his side reach a respectable total of 149/8. Deepak Chahar was the wrecker-in-chief for CSK as he picked up three wickets while giving away just 26 runs in four overs.

MS Dhoni achieved yet another milestone in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he became the most successful wicket-keeper with 132 dismissals in the lucrative tournament. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper achieved this feat in the IPL 2019 final against Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad on Sunday after took the catches of openers Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma. Dhoni first a straightforward catch to dismiss the South Africa wicket-keeper batsman on 29 off Shardul Thakur. In the very next over, the former India captain dived forward to take a low catch that saw the back of his counterpart Rohit Sharma for 15.

Following Dhoni and Karthik in the most successful wicket-taker list is Robin Uthappa, who has 90 IPL dismissals to his name.
