‘Dawn of Black’ Underway At Edge Gallery

Artist Anukul Chandra Mojumder’s 12th solo contemporary art exhibition titled ‘Dawn of Black’ is underway at Edge Gallery, Bay’s Edgewater, Gulshan-2. The exhibition was inaugurated on April 27, 2019.

Promising artist Anukul, a master storyteller who portrays abstract motifs with figurative approach, is now exhibiting his 77 recent artworks in this exhibition.

His stories bring out the essence of the moment. Anukul's paintings are accentuated with lots of curves and twisted lines, often featuring bold, brutal and horrifying imagery. His paintings break commons ideas of composition and he draws some improvised lines to express his stories.

Quite unusual in abstract art, his paintings are almost monochrome, either predominantly red or predominantly blue. In his frame, the colours and the blank spaces all come together to tell a deeply emotional story.

“When the stories flow, I put them on the canvas, with black strokes of mere charcoal and dash of colour. I can imagine the end of the journey and then I bring these stories for the audience,” said the artist about his artworks.

It is mentionable that, born in 1974, Anukul Chandra Mojumder is a prominent contemporary artist based in Dhaka. He has participated in numerous exhibitions at home and abroad.

The exhibition will close on May 18, 2019.
