7 drug traders, fraudsters arrested

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four drug traffickers and two fraudsters from Dhaka and Feni districts on Monday. 

They also recovered a huge quantity of narcotics from the possession of the drug traders.

On information, a team of RAB-3 intercepted a salt-laden covered van at a check post on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Matuail area in the city at around 1:45pm on Monday.

They searched the van and recovered 6,000 yaba tablets and 2.3 kg ganja from their possession.  The law enforcers arrested the driver Humayun Kabir and helper Mohammad Ruhul of the van.  During their interrogation, the arrestee confessed to their involvement in the illegal drug trading.

In another incident, a team of RAB-7 nabbed two alleged drug traffickers and recovered 3,890 yaba pills from Mahipal in Feni district at about 3:50pm.

They are Mohammad Billal and Mohammad Sohag Mia.

In another incident, a team of RAB-2 arrested three fraudsters from Shyamoli area in the city at around 11:00am.

They are Saiful Islam, Rakibuzzaman Chowdhury and Mahfuz Chowdhury.

One SM Refat Jamil lodged a complaint with the RAB office that a man introducing him as his friend Rashedul phoned him at night on May 1, requesting to send him some money as his (Rashedul) mother died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Jamil believed him as his friend and sent some money through bKash.

On the following day, the same man phoned him again and asked some money for ambulance charge. This time Jamil also sent some money through bKash.

A few minutes later, the man also phoned Jamil’s real friend Saiful and took Tk20,000 from him, saying the same.
