The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) Bangladesh and the British Council recently celebrated Global Money Week.
As part of this initiative, seven session have been conducted by HSBC staff on the importance of savings covering 140 children from Dhaka and Chattogram, said a press release.The children of class 6 and 7 visited HSBC branches to understand basic branch services and attend a workshop to encourage saving.
As part of the programme, teachers training has also been organised by the British Council on financial literacy skills to use innovation to educate the children. These children also took part in post card designing under the theme “I save because…” and 3000 post cards have been collected for display at the Global Money Week Finale.
Md. Mahbub Ur Rahman, Deputy CEO and Country Head of Wholesale Banking, HSBC Bangladesh, commenting on the initiative said, “Savings is an important tool for developing the financial well-being of our future generations.”
The finale was held on 2 May where Shitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury, Banking Reform Advisor, Bangladesh Bank remained present as the chief guest.
