Stamford University celebrates Shakespeare’s birthday

Department of English, Stamford University Bangladesh, celebrated the 455th birth anniversary of William Shakespeare in a ceremonious manner on April 27 – 28, 2019. The two-day celebration included film show where three movies -- adaptations based on Shakespeare’s plays such as "The Merchant of Venice", "Macbeth" and "Haider" (Indian adaptation of "Hamlet") -- were screened. Students also presented colourful posters with famous quotes, sketches and photographs of Shakespeare, and decorated the department. 

The Vice Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh, Professor Mohammad Ali Naqi, inaugurated the event and unveiled the wall magazines containing students’ write-ups on Shakespeare -- on both Dhanmondi and Siddheswari campuses. Sheikh Nahid Neazy, chairman of the department of English, was also present there to appreciate the students’ works.
