Barred from leaving country

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO AM Mosaddique Ahmed has been relieved of his duties.

Biman Director (operation) Captain Farhat Hasan Jamil will perform as acting managing director until a new MD is appointed.

Mosaddique submitted his resignation to the chairman board of directors at the meeting.

Mosaddique’s job contract was to end on May 30.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday imposed a travel ban on 10 people, including AM Masaddique Ahmed, who was removed from his position as the Managing Director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, on charges of irregularities in pilot recruitment.

ACC Assistant director Saiful Islam, also the inquiry officer of the graft allegations, issued the travel ban.

The other graft suspects include Biman’s ground service supervisors GM Jakir Hossain, Mizanur Rahman and AKM Masum Billah, Junior ground service officer Md Moshiquer Rahman, Commercial supervisors Md Rafiqul Alam, Gulam Kaisar Ahmed, Commercial officer Jawyed Tarik Khan, Mahfujul Karim Siddique and junior commercial officer Maruf Mehidi Hasan.

ACC in the letter requested the concerned police department and the authorities of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to take necessary measures to ensure that these 10 people cannot leave the country.
