BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday alleged that the incumbent government has established its ‘full control’ over the state machinery.
‘This government is using fascist tactics for taking the state machinery, including judiciary and administration, under its control,’ he said.The BNP leader came up with the remarks while speaking at annual council of a faction of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) at Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
In his speech, Mirza Fakrul said, ‘After assuming power, repression against opposition leaders and activists has been increased alarmingly’.
Fakhrul alleged that the ruling Awami League is now controlling the ownership of most of the media outlets. Not only that, the govt has established their ‘full control’ over different organisations of journalists by creating divisions among them.
He said truth and justice will finally win and the injustice will be defeated. In the history, mass people’s struggle never failed so we will also become victorious.
Mentioning sufferings of mass media workers for unemployment, he said the situation is the consequence of current politics and governing system.
Besides, the BNP secretary general also demanded immediate and unconditional release of the party chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.BFUJ President Ruhul Amin Gazi chaired the programme.
The programme was addressed, among others, by Nayeb-e-Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Mujibur Rahman, journalist MA Aziz.
